On Monday 4th January 2016, Oratory staff had lunch at THE REAL JUNK FOOD PROJECT’ Pop Up Café located in the Ladywood Health and Community Centre, St Vincent Street West, B16 8PR. All had a thoroughly enjoyable and tasty lunch cooked by Garethe Hughes supported by a very able team of volunteers including Cody’s, Ethan’s and Zara’s grandmother Ann Gallagher!

The Real Junk Food Project intercepts food that would otherwise go to waste from supermarkets, restaurants and a number of other sources, and turns it into healthy, nutritious meals for anyone and everyone on a pay-as-you-feel donation basis.

Ladywood Health and Community Centre’s pop-up cafe is serving intercepted waste food on: Wednesdays 10am – 3pm and 6pm -8pm, Fridays 12 -2pm and 3.30-5pm.

It is a space where anyone can eat regardless of income or background; it is a safe social community space. So pop in, say ‘hi’, grab some food, get busy in the kitchen or donate your surplus food.
